Default making new labels with numbering

Just like Figures and Tables, can I make a new label called "Algorithm"
so that each time I caption a text box with this I get a caption
"Algorithm x: " where x is 1,2, .... and with the same numbering
features as Figures and Tables?

If yes, would sure appreciate pointers to webpages or books or other
resources on how to go that.

thanks,
Sam.

Click on the New Label button under the Caption dialog.
