How do I permanently toggle field codes?
This will sound strange... I left my laptop open with a document open in Word
2007. When I came back into the room, my cat was curled up on the keyboard. Ever since then in my headers for papers instead of the page number it shows {page\*mergeformat} and I have to go in each time I open the document and toggle field codes. Hyperlinks are popping up everywhere, too, and I have to go in and either open or remove them from the document. How do I fix this? |

Maybe Click on the Office button and then on Word Options and then on
Advanced and in the Show document content section of the dialog, uncheck the box for "Show field codes instead of their values" -- Hope this helps. Please reply to the newsgroup unless you wish to avail yourself of my services on a paid consulting basis. Doug Robbins - Word MVP "sherry70" wrote in message ... This will sound strange... You can also toggle field codes on or off with Alt + F9.

That's probably what your cat did. My cat would either lie on top of
the monitor (because it was warm, I suppose), or squeeze (he was very big) next to the keyboard and the monitor base. How do I permanently toggle field codes?
Thank you very much everyone! That's been driving me crazy for the past
month!!! I was able to fix it and both suggestions were extremely helpful. My cat had never done that before, but I have found her there a couple more times and now always close or partially close the laptop even if I'm just going to be gone for a minute. Thanks again!
