microsoft word 2003 and Vista
I have purchased a new Dell with WVista Basis, and it came with Microsoft
Works, I would like to install Microsoft Office 2003, what I have in my PC. Would I have any trouble? -- Language Professor |

If the copy of Office 2003 was purchased as a retail package -- not bundled with the PC -- then you can transfer the license to the new computer. If it came with the old computer, then the license is valid only for the old computer and can't be (legally) transferred to the new one. There is no technical reason you can't install Office 2003 on the new computer. It's a good idea to uninstall Works first. You will, of course, need the original CD and the 25-digit product key to install Office 2003. When you activate the installation, if it says that activation can't complete because it was already activated elsewhere, then you'll have to call the telephone number shown in the dialog and get a new activation key. To stay legal, you'll have to remove Office 2003 from the old computer.
Unless of course you have one of the MS office 2003 packages that includes five household licenses (not just one). Thsi should be clearly stated on the box |
