Default Part of document in Spanish and English during spell check

Word2003
WindowsXP

I am spell-checking a document and part of it is using the English
dictionary and then it changes to the Spanish dictionary. How can I get it
to stay all in English U.S.

I have changed it manually by changing the drop-down arrow setting to
English when I see Spanish but it does not save that way.

Please advise..thanks in advance!

Select all (ctrl-a), then go to Tools | Language and select English. Be sure
"do not check spelling and grammar" is unchecked. Click OK.

It's a good idea to disable "Detect language automatically," too, since
Word's auto detection isn't great.
