Default Spell check not allowing me to "add" words

I am currently working with Word 2000. When performing spell check, Word is
not giving me the option to "add" words that it is indicating are misspelled,
such as proper names that it doesn't recognize, etc. How can I correct this?
I work on policies and documents for clients and am not able to add the
client's name to show as a correctly spelled word. Thank you!

Default Spell check not allowing me to "add" words

The most common reason is that your custom dictionary is set to a different
language from the text (it should be set for "All Languages"), but see
"WD2000: Add Button Unavailable in the Spelling Dialog Box" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=211188.

Note, however, that adding the client's name to *your* custom dictionary
will not affect the display of those documents on the client's end. Probably
the client has his/her/its name in its own Custom.dic, but, in case it's
not, you might want instead to apply a character style defined as Default
Paragraph Font + No Proofing, which would prevent the name from being marked
as incorrect in any version of Word.
