Default Locked Word Documents

Having trouble with word. All documents i access appear to be "locked" as in
i cannot alter them in anyway or even highlight the text. I though at first
it was read only or access rights giving the problem. However it happens to
all documents, regardless of thier origins, so i think it is likely to be a
setting somewhere in word that is giving me the trouble. Any help much
appreciated. Dave.

It is likely that you have not activated your installation. Help Activate
Product.

Or, you have a trial version and it has expired. You need to buy and install
a license.
