Default When I type the number 8 it automatically follows with 9, why?

When I'm typing plain text in a letter and I enter the number 8, the number 9
is automatically being inserted. I've turned off all of the "auto"
formatting I can find. I'm using Word 2007. Thanks!

You might be accidentally touching the 9 key when you type 8, or there
might be some dirt in your keyboard under the 8 and 9 keys. Blow it
out with a gentle stream of air.
