Default Troubleshooting BookMarks

I assigned book marks to the table of contents in MS Word. When I tried to
update the fields the text present under the index name in the document comes
in the TOC fields. The same happens when I tried to print the page. Please
help

Check under Tools, Options, Print and uncheck the update fields box.
This will stop the fields being updated upon Print command but not when you
do a manual document update
Hope this helps

Could they have inadvertently been locked?
Select the whole document, then CTRL+SHFT+F11 to unlock all fields in the
document.
Is Track Changes on? This will interfrere with the unpdating process.
