running header
If this is Word 2003 or earlier, it is very simple. View | Header and
Footer. This opens the header pane and displays the Header and Footer toolbar. Type your name and a space and then click the Insert Page Number button on the Header and Footer toolbar. Then click Close on the H&F toolbar. If it's Word 2007, double-click in the header to activate it. The contextual Header & Footer Tools | Design tab will be displayed. Type your name and a space, then click Page Number | Current Position | Plain Number to insert the page number. Click Close or double-click in the document body to exit the header. You can use ordinary paragraph alignment (Ctrl+E to center, Ctrl+R to right-align) or the built-in tab stops to place the text as desired.
