Document to open automatically in Word.
Does Word have a feature which allows to set a time to open a document;
something similar to the Outlook reminder where certain hour could be set. If not, I think this would be useful for it would help with completing tasks put on hold and perhaps forgotten at some point. Thank you |

Word does not have such a feature, although I can imagine that it could be
useful. You could possibly use Windows' task scheduler to do it, but it's hardly a quick and easy process. I say "possibly", because I just tried to set this up as a test before posting this message, and the time I set has past, but the event didn't fire. In theory, it should have worked, but it didn't--I probably did something wrong. Alternatively, use Outlook, and insert a link to the file into the Outlook item. I know that this works because I use this technique frequently. Just make sure you insert a link to the file rather than the file to be edited. Otherwise, it will be opened in a temp location, and you'll have to remember to save changes over the original in the file's actual location. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Sonny" wrote in message ... If you've got Outlook, doesn't Journal offer some help with this?
I've never used it, but I think this was the plan, Pete "Sonny" wrote: Does Word have a feature which allows to set a time to open a document; something similar to the Outlook reminder where certain hour could be set. hi Sonny,
You didn't mention the version of Word/Outlook you're using, but when setting a task or a calendar appointment in the details you can insert a hyperlink to your document so when the reminder goes off, you can click on the link in the detail, or 'snooze' the reminder Since Outlook also supports macros you may be able to have a macro that would open the document for you, but I'd also guess that having a document popup while you're working on another one might not always be a pleasant experience/expectation =============== "Sonny" wrote in message ...
