Default Removing off the read-only from all documents for word 2003?

My sister has a suddenly had a problem with her word 2003 features. Everytime
she opens any document she can't type or change anything and it says read
only at the bottom, how do you change all of your documents from read only to
regular? Even the documents that she opens that are new it says read only at
the bottom.

I don't know what you mean by replying to the newsgroup and what you mean by
activating the software, please be more precise.

What happens if she chooses Activate Product from the Help menu?

Are all files read-only or only certain ones? If only certain ones, have
these been copied to the HD from a CD?
