TOC help?
I am running WinWord XP on Windows XP Pro with all the updates.
How do I construct a Table of Contents to look like the following example? (Excel file) Sorry, I know of no other way to show you what I am attempting to do except to forward the excel file. In the example file (attached)the following styles apply: "Chapter One" is styled in Heading 2 "Beginning To Understand..." is styled in Heading 3 "Christ's Delegated Authority" is styled in Heading 4 I would like this updated automatically as I edit the pages. ________________________ One other question: How do I make the pages numbers appear as i, ii, iii on the Title Page, Table of Contents, Copywrite Page, etc. and start printing the page numbers as 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. for the actual book pages? |

TOC help?
You are going to want to control your TOC using the TOC1 style. See
the following articles for help in setting up your styles: http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/TOCTips.htm http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/TOCSwitches.htm Updating is only going to be semi-automatic. Click into the Table of Contents and press F9 and choose to update entire table. To have the different page numbering, you need to use section breaks to stop one set of numbering style and begin another style. At the end of your first part of your document insert a section break. (Insert, Break, Next Page). Then from the View menu select Header and Footer. On the Header and Footer toolbar, toggle off the Same as Previous option. The format page number allows you to identify what page numbers will look like as well as to allow you to restart your numbering. -- Dawn Crosier Microsoft MVP "Education Lasts a Lifetime" This message is posted to a newsgroup.
