Default mouse stops working

My husband's mouse freezes so the icon or arrow does not move. Then he has to
shut off the computer to start all over again. Is this a fixable problem?
Does he need a new mouse? Does he need a new computer? Neither of us are
computer literate.

Whatever the cause of this problem, it has nothing to do with Word. If
rebooting solves the problem, there is probably a hardware/software
conflict, but you'll need to ask the experts in a newsgroup devoted to your
particular operating system and/or mouse hardware.
