Default locked out

Every time I try to edit a document, a message comes up at the bottom saying
that "document is locked for edit. How do I unlock it??? My Excel won't
even let me change anything.

Help Activate product if you haven't activated. If you have an expired
trial version, you'll have to upgrade to the real version.
