Select Insert tab Quick Parts Field. In the Field dialog box, select
FileName in the Categories list. Turn on the €śAdd path to filename€ť check box (by default €ťPreserve formatting during updates is turned on €“ I would turn it off). Click OK. You can save the field as a new Quick Part: Select the field you just inserted, press Alt+F3 and type a name for the new quick part. Note that you can easily type the field instead of selecting it from a list: 1. Press Ctrl+F9 to insert a set of field braces. 2. Between the braces, type: FileName \p 3. Press F9 to update the field (if this does not toggle field codes, press Alt+F9). If you leave out €ť\p€ť, the field will show the file name without the path. -- Regards Lene Fredborg - Microsoft MVP (Word) DocTools - Denmark www.thedoctools.com Document automation - add-ins, macros and templates for Microsoft Word "gin" wrote: MS Office 2007 - unable to insert file path and file name as the footer; where can i find autotext? |
