When you want to start a new line without starting a new paragraph. For
example, if you are typing poetry and have defined your stanza style to have
Space Before/After, you can use a line break to begin each verse within a
stanza (without adding extra space). This also prevents Word from
capitalizing the first letter of the line if you don't want to.

In numbered styles, you may want a new line without getting a new numbered
list item, and you can use a line break for that. If you need more than just
a line in this way, or if you need space between the numbered and unnumbered
paragraphs, it's better to use a List Continue style, but the line break
provides a "quick and dirty" way to get just a new line without waiting for
word wrap.
