Weird characters in an old Works focument - removing them..?
I have an old Works document I would like to convert to Word 97-2003 format.
When I open it in Word, it shows a lot of cryptic characters. Does anybody know of a simple way to remove them? (such as: ^,¨, È, ) in between normal sentences. I've tried to copy the entire text to Notepad / Wordpad, but without any luck. Thanks. |

It would help if you downloaded the old Works converters from my web site to
enable you to open the Works document without the odd characters. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org morradi wrote: I have an old Works document I would like to convert to Word 97-2003 format. Thanks for your lightning fast reply! i downloaded the converter, but I'm afraid I'm not sure how to use it. When i open Word, i have an option saying Convert - but the document does not change in any way.. I think Im going about this the wrong way. The (4) converters when installed as indicated in the readme file simply
allow old Works documents to be opened directly in Word. Uncheck Tools Options General Confirm conversion on open then simply open the Works document from File Open. (In Word 2007, that would be Word Options Advanced General Confirm fileformat conversion on open) -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org morradi wrote: Hi, Thanks for your lightning fast reply! i downloaded the converter, but I'm afraid I'm not sure how to use it.
