How do you change the formatting of normal.dot permanently Office
How do you change the font for normal.dot in Office XP? I have done the
Style/Formating/Normal/Add to template thing, but it only holds for that one document. If I open a new document, its back to the default New Times Roman. -- Thanks, CSS |

Holds for that one document, or for that Word session? If the latter, see
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm and http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331259.html. Otherwise, see http://addbalance.com/word/defaultfont.htm. I did all this, but it won't let me save normal.dot. It says I have to give
it a different name. -- Thanks, CSS "Charles Kenyon" wrote: Holds for that one document, or for that Word session? See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...alTemplate.htm, but

Suzanne, I have searched for the normal.dot file and I have several. You
attachment says to look at the File Locations tab of Tools|Options...The path given for "user templates" is wher eyou need to look. I may be stupid, but I can't fint the File Locations tab of Tools|Options. -- Thanks, CSS "Suzanne S. You should only have one normal.dot.
Under the Tools menu is a choice of Options. Choose it. This brings up a dialog box. Along the top of the dialog box are tabs that let you look at different pages. Click on the one that says "File Locations." Select "User Templates" and click on Modify to view the full path. Then rename normal.dot found in any other location to something like normalnot.dot. Is normal.dot, the one remaining, read-only? Is it on a network folder for which you do not have edit permissions? -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome! Note also that a lot of the Normal.dot "files" that you'll find with Windows
Search prove, on closer inspection, to be only shortcuts. -- Suzanne S.
