Default Word 2007 - Templates

I have particpated in Word 2007 beta, beta2 and betaTR and now have the TRIAL
version.

With many existing Templates produced in Word 2003 and stored in easily
accesible directories/folders, I still cannot find an easy way to access them
in Word 2007?

Any/all help/ideas/thought will be welcome.

Default Word 2007 - Templates

Hi Peter,

From here, it's not necessarily clear what the 'easily accessible' locations would be Can you give an example of the steps you
would use in Word 2003 to use those templates?

The default locations for Templates in Word 2007, formerly in Word 2003's Tools=Options=File Locations are now in
Office Button=Word Options=Advanced
then scroll down to 'General' and select 'File Locations'.

Other than that using Office Button=New works in a similar fashion to the New Document task pane from Word 2003 in that if you
choose the "My Templates" link on the left side of the 'New' dialog in Word 2007.

Default Word 2007 - Templates

.. In Word 2003 the locoation of Templates could be set in Options. I cannot
find an equivalent way in 2007 as I can only store Default File and
Autorecover locations in Options.

Am I missing something?

Thnaks for your help.

Hi Peter,

Yes, you're missing something because the Word development team
thought that changing the file locations was something only "experts"
would ever do, so they carefully hid it. :-(

In the Options dialog, choose the Advanced tab and scroll all the way
to the bottom. There's a File Locations button that opens the dialog
you want.
