I am trying to format a merge field in Word 2003.

I have the telephone field placed but once the merge occurs from Access the
number shows like this 3019251788. How can I get it to display like this

Default MERGING

You need a switch on the merge field. Toggle the display with ALT+F9 and
change the {Mergefield PhoneNoField} to
{Mergefield PhoneNoField \# "(000) 000'-'0000"}
or
{Mergefield PhoneNoField \# "000'-'000'-'0000"}
depending on which layout you prefer
Then F9 to update and ALT+F9 to toggle again
