I scanned a resume and it went into the picture manager file, I need to
modify the text and all I get is a box.

Scanning creates a picture of your resume. You need to convert the scanned
image into text in order to be able to edit it. This is done using OCR
software. Microsoft Office Document Imaging (which comes with recent
versions of Office) can do a fair job of this. See if this helps:
