word saved a file as encoded and now I can't open it
I created and saved a word file in MS Word, used it several times with no
problem but now whn I try to open it it shows as squiggly line$(and then part of the name) and then asks me to select the encoding that makes the file readable. I have tried all of the option it gives me but it still shows as a jumble of symbols.. How can I get my file back? |

The ~$lename.doc file is not your document; it's the owner file. See

Thank you for your response, but I have closed word several times and
reopened and the file is still the owner file. I cannot find the original. Any thoughts? There are several files like that in my folder and it is driving me batty! "Suzanne S. Any owner files that remain after Word has been closed can be deleted. See
