Default How do I fix the position of text in a document?

I have a form where I enter client info. I do it on my computer, not
hardcopy. I want the fields to stay in a fixed position and not move over
when I enter data.
For example:
NAME DATE

I want to fill in the name without the word "DATE" moving over.

I'm using WORD 2003

HELP, please!

Insert a table, and insert one field or one label in each cell. Use
the Ctrl+Alt+U shortcut to turn off the table's borders if desired.

I thought of that but I wondered if there was another way. I'm going to do
the table as you suggested. Thanks.
