How do I stop Word 2003 from opening up documents in a Reading Lay
Whenever I open a document someone has sent me it opens in 'Reading Layout'
so I thne have to click 'view' and 'print layout' then I close the 'Getting started' box, which all seems like a lot of hassle!?! |

I keep reseting the checkbox but it keeps coming back like a bad headache. I
agree with other posters, why on earth did Microsoft chose the reading layout as the default? It makes no sense. If your options are not being saved, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm for instructions on rebuilding the Word Data key in the Registry. Alternatively, it's possible that an add-in is changing your settings. -- Suzanne S. Also, Reading Layout is *not* the default view except for documents opened
from Outlook attachments (which itself is a horrible idea that causes data loss if you edit and think you've saved).
