Default Automated Cross Reference to Tables

Is there an automated way to create cross references to tables? I have a
document with many, many tables (over 500) that need cross reference. I've
been creating them manually, but it stopped being fun about 10am this morning.

HELP!

Creating cross-references is typically a manual task. On the other hand,
if you are trying to create a table of tables, use the Table of Figures
tab of the Index and Tables dialog box. This assumes that the table has
a caption, which can be identified either via a style or via Word's
built-in caption feature (actually via the SEQ fields used by the
caption feature).

Irked:

If you assign a table number to the tables, you can use built-in
cross-referencing functions. The Insert Cross-Reference dialog box stays open
so you can insert a bunch of cross-references in one session, if you like.
