Default Paste Excel data to Word table

I have data in Excel 2003 that I'd like to paste into a Word 2003 table,
replacing any rows that already exist beneath the heading row. I want to
keep the Word table format unchanged since the column headings, widths, etc.
are just right. I've tried all Paste Special options, but I can't get it to
work. The column widths in the Word table always end up changing, or other
formatting problems occur. I've tried Excel and Word 2007 and also can't get
it right.

Hi Gregg,

You'll need to set Word and Excel up to use the same column widths for this. Do note, though, that Excel doesn't give as much
control over column widths as you can get in Word. Because of that, you might have to adjust the column widths in Word to match what
Excel can deliver.

Cheers

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I see how I can manipulate column
widths in Excel to basically get this done. I'll probably bring the column
headings over from Excel as well to avoid having to match widths exactly.
Thanks again!
