Default style formatting

I would like to increase the spacing between the number and the text of
heading 1, eg.

10increase spacing here Heading 1

Is this possible?

Default style formatting

Yes. All the tab stops and indents for numbered styles are set in the
Bullets and Numbering dialog (Customize Outline Numbered List) dialog. When
lists have more than 9 items, it's preferable to right-align the numbers;
