Paste Special, Keep Source Formatting: source still changes
I add section breaks. I unselect "same as previous" on the header/footers. I
insert attachment (word file) by selecting "Paste Special, Keep Source Formatting" and the style and formatting of the attachment sill gets changed. The page break are wrong, the page numbers are missing, who knows what else changed. I can't even figure out how to reformat the attachment in my document to its original format. I look at the "style and formatting" used on the original attachment verses the pasted attachment using the compare window with the same text selected, and I have no idea how the format/style used on the text from the original attachment was created. |

Paste Special, Keep Source Formatting: source still changes
I ended up using the attachment file as the destination and cutting and
pasting main document around the attachment. It is totally a backward way of doing things, kind of like the way the header/footer defaults to "same as previous", and you have to unselect that, starting from the back of the document, before you cut (delete) a section or everything gets messed up. I had a document where I had to merge 10 documents together. It took 3 days. I told the owner that he had to use the new consolidated document when he made changes. He didn't, he said the footer got messed up. So he updated the 10 separate documents instead. Now he needs to publish again and guess what, I have to merge thoses back into one again (to make a PDF). I'll have to go in a manually correct the formatting on 9 of those documents. Kill me now. "DonD" wrote: I add section breaks. I unselect "same as previous" on the header/footers.
