Default word 2007 not compatible with word 2003?

Word 2007 uses a file format that is incompatible (out of the box) with Word
2003. You can either adopt the ploy suggested by Jay, or given that you are
likely to share documents with your wife again, you could download and
install the 2007 compatibility pack on your wife's computer.
