Default Compare and Merge summary

I would like to Compare and Merge two versions of a document and see a
summary of the differences. At present, I manually log, in a table, changes
I make to the new version, using cross-reference fields.
Thanks for any help.

Default Compare and Merge summary

I like to assist readers of each successive version of the document by having
table of what has changed since they last saw the document.
Eg. Third Draft. Section 1.2, Overview, reworded; Section 2.5, Feasibility
re-evaluated; Section 5.3, Schedule and Section 5.6, Performance amended;
It would be useful to have some assistance in creating this table.
Currently, I go through the amended document and, using Track Changes, hop
from one change to the next, noting the paragraph number and saying whats
changed. (Obviously, I dont expect Word to be able to say €śRe-evaluated).
Can something like a Table of Contents be generated showing which paragrphs
have changed in the Merged document and which remain unchanged?
Thanks for you help.
Hugh
