Default Double Click XLS or DOC fails to open File

Hello

OS: Windows XP SP2
App: Office 2003 SP2

End users are unable to open XLS or DOC files placed on the Desktop by
Double Clicking them.

1. File Open works correctly.
2. Associations (XLS & DOC) are setup correctly.
3. Running €˜Detect & Repair does not resolve the problem.

Any suggestions or pointers to KB articles would be appreciated.

Regards
Mike

Default Double Click XLS or DOC fails to open File

In the Run dialog box, if you type

winword /r

and press Enter (to re-register Word), does that fix the problem?
