Default Anomalous behaviour

I created a style for numbering. The first list got numbered correctly. Later
when I tried to apply the same style, It incremented the numbers. When I
chose "Restart numbering", it accepted BUT changed the indent by 0.21". Is
the option "Restart numbering" invalid or Word does not think such a thing is
allowed? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
