That depends on what's causing it! I know that sounds trite and obvious but
you aren't giving much to go on. Two common causes of this are .. 1. Accidentally touching the touchpad of a laptop while typing 2. Having a speech to text engine enabled -- Enjoy, Tony "dreamer12" wrote in message ... How do I stop the cursor from jumping around in word? |

Cursor jumping
I wish I knew the answer too. We have a user whose cursor jumps to the name
box in excel all the time. She uses arrow keys to get to a cell and starts to type and the entry is going up in the top left in the name box. It is so frustrating that she cannot work. She is NOT touching the touch pad and she does not have any speech recognition going. ANY WORDS OF WISDOM? Good luck dreamer12 "dreamer12" wrote: "dreamer12" wrote: The cursor is jumping all over the page. yo? You think I may be touching the touch pad. I don't think I am doing that. Cursor jumping
I wish I could be more help but, barring malicious software and/or software
corruption, the cursor in Word (and Excel) responds to input from some external source - keyboard, mouse, touchpad, microphone, I don't know what else you might have - bar code reader perhaps. If none of these are receiving human input perhaps there is a physical fault with one of them. As no-one else has responded here, I presume other (known) causes are few. -- Enjoy, Tony "Kathleen" wrote in message ... I wish I knew the answer too. That is an entirely different issue. I would guess that the Excel user does
not have "Edit directly in cell" enabled on the Edit tab of Tools | Options. -- Suzanne S.
