Default Can Word forms use Enter vs. Tab to move to the next field?

I created a form in Word and protected the document from editing, allowing
users to fill out the form only. Is it possible to set it up so that users
can tap the [Enter] key (in addition to the [Tab] key) to move to the next
field.?

It's possible, with some difficulty. See

Word 2010

Create your form however you want it to look.

When you’re ready to add the fields, go to the Developer tab (add to ribbon if necessary) and click on Design Mode in the Controls section. On the left side of the Controls section are 9 icons. The bottom right icon is the Legacy Tools icon. Click on this icon and select the kind of field you’d like to enter under the Active X Controls section. The second one,[ab], will insert a text box that the end user can type into. The end user can move between text boxes using tab or enter after you have applied Restrict Editing.

To restrict editing, in the Developer tab, in the Protect section, select Restrict Editing. Under number 2., check Allow only this type of editing in the document: and select Filling in forms. Under number 3., select Yes, Start Enforcing Protection. You’ll need to enter a password. (If you’re unable to Start enforcement, you will need to click out of Design Mode.)
