How do I count the number of lines of a selection? Words show up
automatically at the bottom.

Default How do I count the number of lines of a selection?

I gather you're using Word 2007 if you're seeing a word count in the status
bar. When you mouse over this, do you get a ScreenTip saying, "Number of
words in document. Click to open Word Count dialog box"? Click the word
count to open the dialog box and get the number of lines in the document or
selection.
