I make a table and put it where I want it, then start typing text around it.
The text wraps for awhile, but inevitably during the editing process the
table starts moving.

I'm using a single celled, borderless table. I have it in a template to
format text around a protruding graphic on pre-printed letterhead. Text
starts out wrapping but inevitably the table loses its mooring and starts
moving with text.

Any other suggestions for how to make a template to wrap around a protruding
graphic?

I'm using Office Word 2004 for MAc on a G5 iMac with 10.3.9 operating
system.

template, set the page layout to "Different first page" and then anchor* the
table (or, preferably, a text box) in the first-page header. Drag the table
or box to the correct location and then close the header area. No matter
what you place in the body of the document, the table/box won't move.

*To anchor a floating object in the header, open the header area and, while
the cursor is in the header, insert the object.

Hi Jay.
Sorry for sending the empty message a moment ago (New here).

I came up with a very simple solution, just wanted to share it and also so
if anyone sees problems:

In the table I need to fix, I can fix the position using "Table Properties"!
In "Table Properties," click on "Table," "Positioning" and unclick "Move
with Text."

The table has stayed put when I dropped a block of text into a new document
where before the table moved!
