I am proofing large documents looking to find certain items i.e. All
capitals, en dash, em dash, italics, parenthesis, numbers, single quote,
double quote etc.. I would appreciate any short cuts or how to. thanks Cliff

CTRL-F opens the find dialog.

I don't think you'll be able to search for all caps, though.

You can search for All Caps font formatting just as you can search for
italic (Format | Font), and you can search for runs of typed capital letters
using wildcards; see http://www.gmayor.com/replace_using_wildcards.htm.
Numbers in general can also be found with wildcards, and there are specific
codes for em and en dashes. Parentheses and quotes can be typed directly
into the "Find what" box.
