How-to : Insert page breaks after a specific word or phrase ?
You can use the procedure below if the following is true:
A. The string ajdhwid occurs only in relation to the page numbers B. Each page x ajdhwid is in its own paragraph C. You mean before (and not after as written in the headline) Adjustments to the procedure are needed if the preconditions above are not correct. What to do: 1. Create a new *paragraph* style (in the following named PageBreakStyle) to be used for all your page x ajdhwid. When defining the style: in the Paragraph dialog box, click the Line and Page Breaks tab and select Page break before (see Word help on create a new style if needed). 2. Select Edit Replace. In the Find what field, type ajdhwid (without quotation marks). In the Replace with field, also type ajdhwid. Click the More button. While the insertion marker is still in the Replace with field, select Format Style. In the Find Style dialog box, select your new PageBreakStyle and click OK. 3. Click Replace All. By applying your style that was defined with page break before, all the page x ajdhwid strings will be forced to start on a new page. In general, it is not recommended to use manual page breaks (may for example result in empty pages if you edit text above a page break). -- Regards Lene Fredborg "AltheaMcWittig" wrote: hello - I am importing data from a mainframe application into Word 2002. The data is 'compressed' in that many pages appear together with no page breaks or spaces; however they are all numbered and coded as 'page 1 ajdhwid' (file name) 'page 2 ajdhwid' etc. is there a way that I can automatically insert a page break BEFORE each appearance of 'page x ajdhwid' so that the final document prints with the correct pagination ? There are hundreds of pages in this file; do not want to manually insert hundreds of page breaks ...please help ! |
