Default Edit Links to Files

This question may have already been asked, however I am having issues with
the microsoft search engine. I apologize if I am repeating someone else's
question.

Question:
I want to embed all of the referenced images in my Microsoft Word document.
I have been told by more than one person that I need to do this by going to:
Strange-and Unnecessary-Windows-button Prepare Edit Links to Files

However, for some reason "Edit Links to Files" does not appear in my
"Prepare" menu list. Of the items listed, it contains the following:
Properties, Inspect Document, Encrypt Document, Restrict Permission, Add a
Digital Signature, Mark as Final, and Run Compatibility Checker.

As you can see, nowhere in this list does "Edit Links to Files" appear. Is
this an issue with my copy of Microsoft Word?

Default Edit Links to Files

Edit Links to Files will only be available if the document contains OLE
links.

Is there any way to embed my referenced images otherwise?

There are several different ways to create OLE links. For example, you can
use the Object dialog box to create a new OLE object or insert an OLE object
from a file.

To open the Object dialog box:

- In Word 2003, click Insert | Object.

- In Word 2007, click the Insert tab, and then click Object.

Default Edit Links to Files

Thank you. That is helpful... However, my issue is that I have a large
document which was created by another employee who no longer works at the
company. The document contains a large number of image references which
point to a folder on a network drive. Is there any way for me to turn these
images into embedded images so that I can transmit this file to other
employees?

Default Edit Links to Files

Have you been able to figure out which type of links these are?

Also, which version of Word are you using?
