Default Office XP and printing

Hi,
I am a helpdesk technician at my company and I'm having some issues with MS
word that's included with Office XP. When anyone opens a word document and
decides to print it with a different printer other than the OS's default
printer, word then uses that printer for the rest of the day (like it's
caching it). Example: I open an important document and don't want to print
it to the public (default) printer . I go to file | print | and choose the
printer closes to me. Now for the rest of the day when I open a Word
document and click on the print icon, to print to the windows default
printer, it prints to the last printer (the one closest to me that I chose
previously). Is there a setting within word that sets this? Is there any
way I can stop this from happening? It's causing huge issues when someone
chooses a label printer the closes the document and clicks the print icon
later in the day. It's wasting tons of labels when this happens. Please
assist me in finding the solution. Thanks.

The problem is not that I can't print or I'm getting an error. The problem
is, Word is changing the default printer, only in Word and only for a day,
when I choose a printer other than the Windows default.

There are resources in Part 2 that could help.

That is normal. When you select a different printer in Word, it becomes the
active printer for that Word session until you change to a different one. If
you would like to be able to select a different printer for a specific print
job, see http://www.gmayor.com/fax_from_word.htm
