Default Installing Office 2003 over Word 2002 & Works Office Suite 2006

I have a copy of Office 2K3 and want to install it. I currently have
Word 2002 installed via Works Office Suite 2006. Should I uninstall
Word 2002 first? If possible I'd like to keep all my settings and
stuff. Will it simply replace the winword exe? Or installing Office
2K3 over Word 2002, blow away all my settings and the normal template?

Whenever you install any version of Word/Office over a previous version,
your documents and settings are retained. Since you are upgrading, you
should be able to install Word 2003 over Word 2002 without any problem
(users who installed Office XP over an existing version of Works with Word
2002 found that Word was not replaced, which sometimes caused license key
issues later).

Interesting. It detected a previous installation of Word, and asked
what I wanted to do so I just told it to leave it there (not install a
new version of Word), so all is well. I always thought that the Word
used in 2003 was in fact, Word 2002--not that it would make that big
of a difference to me, I'm sure the features aren't that different,
and no I don't use mail merge. Anyways, I'm sure I've installed Office
over pre-existing versions before, but don't recall seeing that
option. Oh well.

Many computer service consulting companies, but not all of them, offer
their customers with professional training services which can be used to
train the company’s own employees to perform specific tasks, in order to
improve that company’s service quality and response, i.e., when
employing computer service consulting companies either part time, or off
base.

Word 2003 is actually a giant leap forward from Word 2002, so I would
recommend that you uninstall Word 2002 (you won't lose your documents or
settings) and install Word 2003. The UI is very little different, but many
useful features have been added, and 2003 is a more stable version.

Wasn't aware of that. OK I'll keep that in mind the next time I
reinstall Office 2003--I'll override the current installation.
