Document margins/spacing increase when viewing on different comput
I have two computers, both with Microsoft Word 2003. I have a document that
has a lot of text and small margins, but everything fits one one page when I view it on my first computer. However, I tried viewing the same document on my second computer and the last five lines of the document end up on a second page. I have tried printing the document from both computers, and it prints out just like what it shows on the screen (one page from the first computer, two pages from the second). It looks like it may be an issue of top/bottom margins and the spacing between each line of text (for some reason it looks like there is wider spacing on the second printout), but I have no idea how to fix it. Any suggestions? By the way, I also tried it on a few friends' computers and those all work fine (text remains just on one page). The second computer (the one with the issues) had the problem for a while, and I recently reformatted and reinstalled everything, but the problem is still there. Thanks in advance for any help! |

Thanks for responding. I looked over the link you provided but no luck.
Both computers have only one single printer installed (other than things like Microsoft Image Writer and Adobe PDF) and it is the exact same printer and print driver. Tried just now to uninstall and reinstall both compters' printers and print drivers, but same problem exists. I tried printing test pages from the printer page itself, and both pages turned out identical. The issue seems to only appear on Word; I don't have that issue with printing from Excel or any other application. Any suggestions? Thanks. if you start Word in safe mode? Nope, the problem is still there even in safe mode.

Choose File - Page Setup on both computers with that document loaded, and
compare the top and bottom margins. Are they identical? Check the settings in each of the three tabs in this dialog and see if there are any differences. The other possibility would be that some of the compatibility settings are different. But, I would have thought that starting in Safe mode would have neutralized that problem. Nonetheless, just to be sure, try Tools - Options - Compatibility, and verify that both computers' settings are identical for the options shown. All of this assumes that both computers are running the identical version of Word (including the same SP level). -- Herb Tyson MS MVP http://www.herbtyson.com Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along. The only thing I can think of that would cause a difference would be the
printer driver (which would still affect documents in Safe Mode). Compatibility and Page Setup settings are saved with the document, so they wouldn't change between computers, and the version of Word shouldn't make any difference, either, but a different OS (which will guarantee a different printer driver) or a difference in font versions installed, could make the difference. -- Suzanne S.
