Default Headers in Word 200

Please could someone advise if it is possible to move existing text in a
document into the header? If I try and extend the header to encompass the
required text, the text ****s down the page. I also can not copy and paste
existing text into the header area

You certainly can copy text, open a header, and paste it? If not, which of
these three steps is causing the problem?

Otherwise, look into the StyleRef field.

Note, a header is not on a page or part of a page, so moving the header
margin simply increases the size of the header, as you've discovered. (A
header is designed to be on multiple pages and mostly independent of those
pages.)
