Default Unknown cursor image in table row

When you click in certain cells of this user's table, the cursor I-beam also
has what looks like a little flag to the left of it. When you try to type in
the cell, the characters actually appear in the cell below it. The cells with
this behavior appear to be merged, and extend across the table across the top
of all columns. The right border is missing.
The user can't remember what she did, but says these cells used to have text
and shading in them.
I'm clueless! Can anyone help me? If I at least knew where to find a list of
the mouse cursors and their meanings...have searched help for ...I'm
embarrassed to admit how long. Thanks for any help!

Sounds like "Click and type" may be enabled under ToolsOptionsEdit.

Hope this helps.

The "flag" on the I-beam probably indicates that "Click and type" is enabled
(Tools | Options | Edit) and probably has nothing to do with the rest of the
problem.

You are both correct, "Click and type" was enabled, and it is unrelated to
the problem. The cursor icon I see is only there when I hover over the rows
with the problems. All other rows, cells, etc. work properly. I fixed it by
deleting, then re-inserting the rows with the problem, but can't figure out
what she did to create it in the first place.
Thank you for your responses. I have never paid any attention to the click
and type option. Guess I'll read it up.
