My equation editor disappears when I try to use it!
How do I make my Equation editor in word work?
It just disappears when I click on it. |

How are you opening Equation Editor (EE)? 2. What do you mean "disappear"? Do you mean EE closes completely? 3. What do you mean "when I click on it"? EE appears as a 2-row toolbar and a workspace inside your document. The workspace is enclosed by a dotted rectangle. Are you clicking on the toolbar, inside the workspace, or somewhere else? 4. What version of Word are you using? Any information you can give in addition to the answers to these questions would be most helpful. -- Bob Mathews bobm at dessci.com Director of Training http://www.dessci.com/free.asp?free=news FREE fully-functional 30-day evaluation of MathType 5 Design Science, Inc. -- "How Science Communicates" MathType, WebEQ, MathPlayer, MathFlow, Equation Editor, TeXaide |

Thanks for trying to help!
I am using Microsoft Equation 3.0 in Word 2003 (11.6502.6408) SP1. I can open EE without a problem, but when I click on any of the symbols on the toolbar, the toolbar completely disappears and nothing happens in the workspace although I can still see it. The application is hosted on a Microsoft Server 2003 Standard edition. I hope this information is helpful "Bob Mathews" wrote: On 4-Oct-2005, Topcat wrote: How do I make my Equation editor in word work? It just disappears when I click on it. I've never seen that particular problem before. I'll pass this along to our Tech Support department to see if they have seen the problem before. Meanwhile, I have a couple of suggestions: 1. Make sure your Equation Editor fonts are set up properly. To do this, open EE, then click on Style Define. These styles should be set to Symbol: LC Greek, UC Greek, and Symbol. Everything else can be set to whatever you want, but most likely you'll want these set to whatever your document in Word is typed in. 2. If this doesn't fix your problem, you might consider downloading the evaluation of MathType at the link below. You will have full functionality of MathType for 30 days, then if you don't purchase it, it will shift to MathType Lite, retaining all of Equation Editor's functionality plus a bit more. Any equations you created during the evaluation period will remain editable after the evaluation period. -- Bob Mathews bobm at dessci.com Director of Training http://www.dessci.com/free.asp?free=news FREE fully-functional 30-day evaluation of MathType 5 Design Science, Inc. -- "How Science Communicates" MathType, WebEQ, MathPlayer, MathFlow, Equation Editor, TeXaide |

I have checked and all the styles are set to Symbol.
Yes, I would appreciate any other suggestions before I install MathType, thanks! "Bob Mathews" wrote: On 5-Oct-2005, Topcat wrote: I am using Microsoft Equation 3.0 in Word 2003 (11.6502.6408) SP1. And Topcat responded: I have checked and all the styles are set to Symbol. Yes, I would appreciate any other suggestions before I install MathType, thanks! Unfortunately, they haven't seen it either, and didn't have any information on it. Feel free to start a dialog with them directly at "support at dessci.com". Otherwise, my recommendation is still to install the MathType evaluation. -- Bob Mathews bobm at dessci.com Director of Training http://www.dessci.com/free.asp?free=news FREE fully-functional 30-day evaluation of MathType 5 Design Science, Inc. -- "How Science Communicates" MathType, WebEQ, MathPlayer, MathFlow, Equation Editor, TeXaide |
