HELP: Missing quick styles
Over the past few documents I have created several new quick styles. Now I
create a new document and it just shows the default quick styles. How do I save a quick style for use in all documents (i guess save it to the Normal template or something)???? Thanks! |

When you click the "Save selection as a new Quick Style" item at the bottom of the Quick Styles gallery, by default it's saved only in the current document. If you want it to be available to new documents, then yes, it does need to be in the Normal template (or in another template, if you're going to base new documents on that other template). When you're first creating a Quick Style, click the Modify button and, at the bottom of the next dialog, change the option from "Only in this document" to "New documents based on this template". To move a Quick Style that you've already created, open the document where you saved it. Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S (or click the little launcher button in the bottom right corner of the Styles group on the ribbon). At the bottom of the Styles task pane, click the third button (Manage Styles). In the dialog that appears, change the option from "Only in this document" to "New documents based on this template". In either case, if Word prompts you to save Normal.dotm when you close down, say yes. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |
