Word 2007 before paragraph spacing with lists
In Word 2007 if I have a list of bullet or numbered items and apply a before
(or after) paragraph spacing to all items in the list the result is the spacing is not applied to all items in the list but rather to only the first item in the list. It is as if Word recognizes the whole list as a single paragraph. However when I turn on my show/hide feature I see the paragraph marks after each item. I have never experienced this problem in previous versions of Word. It only seems to be showing itself in dreaded Word 2007. Any thoughts besides uninstalling Word 2007?? |

Word 2007 before paragraph spacing with lists
Hi ?B?SmVmZnJleUJlZQ==?=,
In Word 2007 if I have a list of bullet or numbered items and apply a before (or after) paragraph spacing to all items in the list the result is the spacing is not applied to all items in the list but rather to only the first item in the list. It is as if Word recognizes the whole list as a single paragraph. However when I turn on my show/hide feature I see the paragraph marks after each item. Check the paragraph formatting of the paragraph style whether it whether it's set to suppress spacing between paragraphs of the same style? I believe this has been set as the default for the style applied automatically to numbered lists... Word 2007 before paragraph spacing with lists
Jeff:
I have the same problem. I can't apply spacing between line numbers. word 2007 thinks the whole list as a single paragraph and puts spacing before the first line/number and after the last line/number. Please let me know if you find a solution. Thanks, Lewis http://www.affordablewebdesign.us |

Word 2007 before paragraph spacing with lists
Hi Awdesign,
I have the same problem. I can't apply spacing between line numbers. word 2007 thinks the whole list as a single paragraph and puts spacing before the first line/number and after the last line/number. Please turn on the display of non-printing characters (the "Show/Hide" button in the Paragraph group of the Home tab). Do you see "backward P" symbols at the end of each numbered line? If you do, then Word is not handling the entire list as a single paragraph. In this case, what I mentioned in the message to which you replied pertains: Word is applying the "Don't add space to paragraphs of the same style" formatting. In order to change this: - select the entire list - Click the dialog box launcher of the Paragraph group. (That's the little box at the lower right corner) - make sure the checkbox for "Don't add space to paragraphs of the same style" is deactivated -OK Cindy Meister INTER-Solutions, Switzerland http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister (last update Jun 17 2005) http://www.word.mvps.org This reply is posted in the Newsgroup; please post any follow question or reply in the newsgroup and not by e-mail :-) |

Word 2007 before paragraph spacing with lists
It's a little late to add to this thread, but I'm very frustrated by the
complicated way MS has handled numbered lists. All I want to do is have a sequence of paragraphs that have the same between-paragraph spacing as my non-numbered lists (style requirement of my client) and i simply can't do this in Word2007 using styles. Maybe, just maybe, I need to define the "list style" instead of the "paragraph style" -- even though one element of a paragraph style is the type of "list" that you want. Lists have always been ridiculously complicated and techy in Word but the approach taken in Word 2007 is just ridiculous. "Cindy M." wrote: Hi Awdesign, I have the same problem. Simply specify the desired Spacing Before or Spacing After for the style you
