Default Why is Word 2007 slower than Word 2003 to open a file from dfs sha

What checks/actions is Word 2007 doing when it opens a document? Word 2003
can quickly (2-3 secs) open a document from a dfs share. However, when Word
2007 opens the same document it takes approx 1-2 mins. How do I find out
what extra checks Word 2007 is doing? Filemon and regmon haven't been
helpful.
