MathType vs. Brownstone Equation Editor
I typically open MathTyppe from Word using the Ctrl-F1 keys. Recently the
same key strokes open a program called Brownstone which is not as fancy as the program I paid for; it has much of the functionality missing from the regular MathType. In the past, I uninstall all the software and reinstall it. Is there a better way to go back to MathType? How do I assign short cut keys to open the application? |

You didn't say which version of Word you're using (which is a really important piece of information to know), but by default Ctrl+F1 in Word 2003 opens the Task Pane, and in Word 2007, it minimizes the Ribbon. Whatever, this makes me assume you assigned the Ctrl+F1 key yourself (or someone did it for you). The default shortcut key combination to open MathType from Word is Ctrl+Alt+Q. Try that. How do I assign short cut keys to open the application? Again, it depends on which version of Word you're using. In Word 2003, right-click on any toolbar, then click Customize. In the Customize dialog, click Keyboard (at the bottom). Choose what you want to customize, enter the shortcut keys, click Assign, then Close. In Word 2007, click the Office button, then click Word Options. Click the Customize option on the left, then click the Customize button on the right. From there it's the same as for Word 2003. -- Bob Mathews Director of Training Design Science, Inc. bobm at dessci.com http://www.dessci.com/free.asp?free=news FREE fully-functional 30-day evaluation of MathType MathType, WebEQ, MathPlayer, MathFlow, Equation Editor, TeXaide |
