How do I compress a word doc file that only has words (no picture
For transportation on removable media or to e-mail the document, use a
compression utility such as WinZip or WinRar etc. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Sainty wrote: I need to compress a word document file . It has no pictures, just pages and pages of words...help ! |

For transportation on removable media or to e-mail the document, use a compression utility such as WinZip or WinRar etc. Especially for e-mail, RTF may be a better option. I'm having clients tell me that their corporate e-mail systems reject ZIP files. In Word, open the document in question, do File Save As, and in the file type drop-down, choose Rich Text Format (RTF). For text-only documents, .RTF files are usually less than half the size of .DOC files. A .ZIP file is almost certainly smaller still, but if the recipient can't receive it ... I save all my local documents as RTF unless they contain embedded graphics. -- Stan Brown, Oak Road Systems, Tompkins County, New York, USA http://OakRoadSystems.com/ |
